We can use minerals such as aluminum to wrap food in and to cover plastic food containers. We can also use minerals to help us with projects and making stuff, such as pastels. I see minerals everyday at school, home, and at soccer. The mineral I see most often that I can think of, is aluminum (foil). Aluminum foil is common household items and you can find it almost anywhere. I have seen emeralds, diamonds, and pearls being used in different places and resources. Like: jewelry, scientific projects, and in hair objects.

Dear Ms.Bynoe,
We use many different minerals in many different ways. Yet, the mineral that I want to talk about is talc. People all around the world use talc in different ways. Us as sixth graders use it in chalk. However, us as Americans use it in powders (such as baby and body powder). Another thing That I know around the world is, that it is used in chinese facial powder. That is only a few ways that talc is used, there are many more.Well, that's all for now
Sincerely
Your student,

Hey Ms.Bynoe,
Everyday we see minerals but don't know that it is a mineral. I see minerals on people every day. What do I see them as? I see them as jewelry. It can be a birth stone that someone is wearing or something called a quartz. They are also types of metals and other things. For instance I will use the Olympics: There is the bronze, silver, and gold metal. We use minerals every day and don't even know it, but as they say we learn something new everyday.

Hi Ms. Bynoe,
Minerals are everywhere. There are minerals in rocks and sand. We use the mineral talc in baby powder, and dimond in our jewelrey. And there is many more inbetween, like topaz, quartz, and fluorite. You can use the lowest grade of fluorite to lower the melting point of raw materials in steel production. You can use Gypsum, (another mineral) in dry wall, plaster, and fertilizer.
Thanks, Jordan Floyd
My fovorite mineral is topas. Topas is a yellow gemstone. That gemstone marks as a birth stone for November which it is my birtday, that is why I picked topas as my favorite mineral.

Hi Ms. Bynoe,
Minerals are in water.Water is a part of my life.I drink water everyday to avoid from getting sick.Everytime I turn on the microwave or t.v.I use minerals. The copper in the wire carry electricity is a mineral. We use minerals in my home. The lights bulbs turn darkness to light. My father buys rechargeable batteries for our video camera and my remote control cars.My watch wss made of minerals. We use minerals or touch minerals everyday.
Where do I see minerals in my everyday life?
I see minerals in the pencils I use. The gray mineral that is inside of every pencil is called graphite, but sometimes people call the mineral inside of the pencil lead. There are other minerals that people use everyday like the gold for jewelry or caps on people teeth. Minerals such as sodium and floride are in the water we drink, and toothpaste we use. Flouride helps to prevent cavities, and sodium help to add taste to the water. One other use for minerals that I learned about today was vitamins. The vitamin that I take every morning, is made up of all kinds of minerals. Wow there are lots of uses for minerals in our everyday lives!

Minerals are found everywhere around us. They are in the food, vegetables and fruits we eat. Apples are rich in iron. Banas are rich in potassium. Nuts contain copper, magnesium and manganese. Beans, meat and lentils are also rich in iron. Milk, yogurt and cheese are rich in calcium. The vitamins we eat are enriched with minerals. So is water and other health drinks.
Minerals are found in nature in rocks and inside the earth. Diamonds and gemstones are minerals. Gold, silver, iron are also found in nature.
